Chocolate chips are an essential ingredient in baking. Easy to incorporate and delicious, they are ideal for preparing or decorating your pastries.
Chocolate chips are valuable culinary aids to always have in your cupboards. They can for example be used in muffins or cookies whether they are white chocolate, milk chocolate or dark chocolate. They are ideal for all types of pastries to incorporate directly into preparations or to sprinkle on top of pastries, brioches or cakes.
Different kinds of chocolate chips
There are several types of chocolate chips, white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate. We sell them all on Autourdugâteau.fr, they will be used to decorate your cupcakes and muffins, but also to decorate your cakes. In general they are round, but you can also find square ones, it's up to you to match them according to your recipe and your culinary preferences.
There are also different names to call chocolate chips.
Chunks are large, chunky pieces of chocolate that will not melt when baking, they are often used inside cupcakes as a filling.
Chocolate pearls are mainly used to decorate cake designs and cupcakes, they are simply placed on the cake. They are also often covered with velvet or gloss spray.
Drops are used in the same way as classic chocolate chips, however they are larger and shaped like drops.
The difference between chocolate chip and candy melt
Candy melts are not made of chocolate and are mainly used to decorate cakes. They don't have a good chocolate taste.
Chocolate chips melt much less easily than melts and have a good chocolate taste, they are also rarely used to cover cakepops.
